Care & Cleaning

Pearl care & cleaning

The care

Cultured pearls are part of nature as their name says (natural). The process is complicated with respect to the temperature and purity of the water in which they are grown. That is the reason why they are quite very durable and resistant gems, but sensitive at the same time.

Being part of mother nature, growing in a farmed mussel, and being created in clean water, pearls need some care.

Like everything in nature, pearls do not like chemicals. For example, perfume, body wash, shampoo, sun cream, makeup and etc. The effect after the constant use of these substances on the pearls is that they lose their shine (they seem more mat than shiny), they darken slightly and the outer layer wears away. Of course, this effect arises after many years of use, but it is also good to make a habit of removing the jewelry before bathing.

By avoiding adding chemicals it is also VERY important to wear them. The shine of the pearls is more intense thanks to the body oil that our skin releases.

When storing them, it is better to separate them from other jewels and keep them in a case or cloth bag.

Cleaning

The pearls can be cleaned with water and a damp cloth. Let them dry completely after cleaning.

In the case of jewelery with sterling silver, it can be cleaned with a cotton cloth or through an eraser.

This is the safest way to keep your jewelry in perfect condition for many years.
